With lyricist Lorenz Hart, composer Richard Rodgers produced dozens of clever, catchy showtunes in the ‘30s and ‘40s that remain favourite American Songbook standards. With Oscar Hammerstein, Rodgers went on to reinvent the Broadway musical with Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The King and I among other masterpieces of musical theatre.
Clarinet and saxophone star of the John Wilson Orchestra Mark Crooks and pianist Chris Ingham dip into these contrasting songbooks for elegant, jazzy ruminations on Rodgers’ musical genius.
